Ash,
I'm always the first to agree with "too much is never enough" but now you're taking the piss.
How you gonna get them to fit?
Just thinking, I hope that's a rear but having followed your progress it's probably a reasonable question.
Cheers
David

Hmmm, yes, the whole body is going through a HUGE development process, there was only one company in the UK that was willing to take such a project on, Thompsons GRP Ltd.

I guess if I was to say she aint going to look like a cerb anymore from any angle - I'd not be far from the truth.

Hehe, yup thats the rear one, the front ones are pretty big too (due to getting the tracking right with the centreline on pitch with the rears)

A few more weeks and the development should be complete... then its fingers crossed for getting everything in and sprayed up for Cream

(Trust me, everything in this project has been pre-calculated by my engineers and bodyshop and input from many techies, everything is functional, theres no other way of getting close to a 1000lb/ft to the floor than using tyres that wont shred to pieces on the engagement of first gear!)

For 's sake, Ash!!! What was the alternative, cutting tread into a Top Fuel slick?! Is everyone else in the UK going to be running on 135s for the next year, 'cos you've nicked all the rubber?!

Fair play to you for having a go at something like this, will be good to see it in the flesh (well, fibreglass!)

I bet the GTO's not getting much attention now!

Sadly shes sitting out there with a dead clutch and now a flat battery

I'll get back to her soon, I love her and have plans for her, but everytime I open that bonnet up, the amount of kit in there just scares the shite out of me!

(freakin 120+ bolts need to be removed just to replace the damn clutch! what were mitsubishi thinkin????)

Ash, one of my brothers bought, in amonsgt some other cars, 2 GTOs in from Japan (I think) to sell on. Made money on the other cars but ended up with 2 GTOs with duff clutches, which negated any profit.

My father-in-law works in Brunei and is on his 3rd GTO from the Sultan's stock (he sometimes buys when they sell his cars off twice a year). He got rid of the 1st two because of dead clutches, now he is waiting for a new clutch to go in the latest one. Obviously there is a clutch problem, but are they really that good a car that you have to keep buying more of them? Makes cerbs sound cheap to run

Mind, the latest one will have cost him about £7k all done, with about 1000 miles on it, so cant be that bad?

Honestly?

The GTO is a lot more costly to look after, parts are expensive, good skilled mechanics charge a lot of money to get them sorted when things go wrong, why? Its the way these cars are put together, so much time goes into disassembling and reassembling, in the end the part only cost a few 100 quids and the 1-2k ontop was the labour!

But they are worth it! Its quick, versatile, and when suspension is uprated, they cut bends like cheese! But their weak point is braking, BIG heavy things and turbo umph eats through discs and pads like theres no yesterday and that only daily use, those GTO track demons must be loaded!

A fabulous car, technically space ages ahead of its time and to many extents still is a very sophisticated peice of machinery, but the running costs devalue the car ridiculously low!

TVR's are a godsend in comparison, but at least in the GT you know when things are going wrong, she'll still get you home, when the tiver throws a fit, you're either walking home or sitting with your mate dave in his low-loader cabin discussing women...

Not really heard of anything like that through the owners club, GTOUK....perhaps drag launches are popular in Brunei or something?! Might be the choice of clutch though, as GTOs seem to be very choosy about what aftermarket parts work in them (as anyone who's tried to modify one will know!!).
You can pick up any brand of whatever part that works fine in anything else, but stick the correct variant into a GTO and there's a good chance it doesn't! Relatively few aftermarket parts are made for them too.

As for the price of the parts........hell yeah, if you buy proper Mitsi bits (which is HIGHLY recommended in most circumstances) be sure to have a second mortgage handy!
