Audi S6 2.2 Quattro
Discussion
So I bought this because I fancied something different and picked it up about a week ago. Rare old thing and a nice tidy example. The engine! It’s a peach, never owned an Audi 5cyl before. It’s had a mild remap around 12 years ago with no dyno print out and feels around 280hp ish. Very cool soundtrack as well, which is one of the things I will be improving. She’s booked in at an Audi so specialist end of the month for a once over, few niggles to look at. Plan: Keep it looking exactly as it does, maybe a suspension refresh and a slight drop in ride height. Full exhaust system, and as what reliable horsepower can be had whilst still making the car as fun as it is. I’d like to see if the gearshift can be tightened and the brake feel isn’t the most confidence inspiring. She’s done 120000 miles so I imagine a few bits need updating but it has really good history. More updates to come.

A big fan of these; my first fast Audi experience was a mechanically-very-similar S2.
They've so much character by modern standards, and still remarkably usable (although availability of some parts is very poor).
The view of the dash from the driver's seat might be my favourite bit. A really lovely layout of old-school, analogue gauges. A nicer looking stereo would set that off a treat.

Thanks all
I want to release some more of that sound. I am not up to speed on what’s possible on this engine and what’s safe.
My first job is to get it stopping better. The feel through the pedal is a bit bizarre and I noticed an advisory for brake lines being replaced with rubber ones and wonder if that’s why it feels odd.
Love the colour and the understated element of the car. I feel if this was around 400ish Hp and sorted regarding suspension and brakes, it would be a bit of a sleeper and just fun.
Looking forward to my visit to the Audi specialist QST later this month. I expect the cheque book will be out

These are great! I help out at a competition engine builders and one of the customers turns up in an avant one sometimes, it's had a fair bit done to it and sounds awesome too, those older 5 pots really do sound cracking.
Yours looks a great example, how did you find it out of interest? It's not something you really see for sale all that often!

I suspect that will be the rubber brake flexi's being replaced as the old one was perished.I want to release some more of that sound. I am not up to speed on what’s possible on this engine and what’s safe.

It always makes me laugh seeing the engine basically mounted between the headlights. Cool cars though, nearly bought a similar generation S4 a while back.
Sad to see that you've got it up for sale already
