Having just read the "spotted" article on the E39 M5, I'd have to say that I think that the E39 M5 is my all time favourite BMW.

What is yours?

E39 M5, closely followed by the related 6 cylinder E39 brethren.

Next in line would be the E38 7 series, preferably the 740i.

As an aside, it was around the time of peak car. The dawn of the V10 era, a great time to be alive. Gallardo. Murcielago. Carrera GT. Viper. E60 M5, Audi RS6 etc.

In that order. We have recently bought an E93, and it isn't my favourite by a long shot but it does look very nice indeed. I am fond.

This saddens me because you’re absolutely right. Certainly, looking at the latest and upcoming models today they seem like a massive downgrade for anyone that enjoys actually driving their car and not just fking about with the infotainment. For me, driving is a way to unplug and half the time I don’t even listen to music.

E34, either M5 or any Alpina derivative. It's almost certainly my age but I think this was the perfect blend of the classic double headlight and kidney grilles mixed with subtle aggression.

I think the Z3M Coupe might be my runner up.

All time will be athe Andy Warhol M1.

Favourite road car of all time will be the e46 CSL

Lot of love for my e92 M3 manual. Not much I'd swap that for at anything below two or three times its value

If we include those with a BMW badge:

I think my favourite of all those I’ve owned was my 325ti, although interestingly that was the one I put the most mileage on too. Close second was my E30 Alpina C2.5, such a special little car
