I guess as demand for the minerals go into battery manufacture increases the cost of cars (and anything else battery powered or needing batteries) will increase.

As a serial sheddist I really don't know what to do anymore. The price of second hand cars is so high that there are no bargains anymore, and in eight years there will be no new ICE cars. There will still be a lot of people who cannot afford a new EV, so I have a feeling the price of ICE cars will actually increase even more.

EVs are way too expensive, and the only cheap ones such as the Leaf of Zoe have appalling range. Plus I live in a Victorian Terrace and have no way of actually charging one.

I am seriously wondering if buying a brand new Dacia Sandero is the way. Put the money you would spend on a shed as the deposit and pay under £100 a month for a brand new car. This would easily last me 15 years and in that time the whole thing will have hopefully sorted itself out.

The price of battery technology will come down, the only reason they are so high is the new tech and production costs. Think wind turbines and solar panels 15 years ago, heat pumps v combi boiler. Its simply down the manufacturing scale.

I was paying £25 for an LED bulb 10 years ago, and LED fitting over £100, now you pay more for non LED.
