Food order takeaway business website
Discussion
Looking for recommendations for a simple food ordering website/ service on behalf of my local takeaway,
for example, the website allowed pre-registered customers to view the menu, place an order, make debit card payment and collect in person (no delivery service).
the takeaway gets a ping notification with the order and has the food prepared for collection 15-20mins later.
they've recently been let down by a food ordering and payment website provider who they've used for over a year,
not sure of the ins and outs but they have taken up justeats as an alternative...
is there a simpler / lower cost version of justeats?

The alternative is to build a custom ordering system, I've done these with Woocommerce and a food ordering plugin before with a lot of success.
The upfront cost for this is more to set up, but the percentage per order is much less (basically just the payment processing fee) so if marketed correctly and used by regulars it could be a lot more lucrative.
PM me if you'd like to know more,

My brother uses Order YOYO for his takeaway. It does all the things you're asking for (although he has his own in-house delivery drivers). for example, the website allowed pre-registered customers to view the menu, place an order, make debit card payment and collect in person (no delivery service).

Although he has his own website he still uses Just Eats. Unfortunately for him that's still the preferred portal for most of his customers. Having his own portal means that he's not having to pay 15% commission but it doesn't get the number of visits that JE gets, even though it's cheaper.
probably the best / most robust entry level eCommerce system at the moment is Shopify - which is cloud based and very easy to get up and running...
have a look at this page of theirs: https://www.shopify.com/restaurant-online-ordering

No idea if it's any good or does what you require but Flipdish keeps cropping up in my FB feed.

It’s priced on performance and will look professional.
Strategy to turn people off just eat - memory stickers with orders, loyalty scheme, branded packaging covered in your URL (don’t tell just eat!) etc etc - my local who use touch2 offer every 10th order free (limited spend). It’s working for them as just eat pulls them in then hopefully subsequent orders are direct.

Touch2success looks like a great package but they have a terrible reputation with shops. Flipdish is a good product, we worked with them for a bit but swapped to our own platform, if you do want to look at FD hit me up and I can pass you on to someone who can discount the rate. It’s priced on performance and will look professional.

Just eat are just about to launch JE Epos letting you use their network but also your own site with the reduced commission, we have been using its beta for 2 years, and when it goes live it will finish touch2 overnight.
Storekit looks like Deliveroo and is free, we have a few customers using it and they find it OK
The biggest issue you will have is pulling people across and drivers. JE own the market right now and a driver doing 6 days a week will clear £1k in earnings. They are burning cash to own the market and only they win
