I would welcome some advice from learned sages on a few related subjects
I'm being offered a 997C2S by an importer - is a C16 Danish supplied model likely to bring with it any major downsides (hassle with OP Network on service, residuals, less than straightforward dealing by importers etc)
Is £1k discount to list and immediate availability adequate compensation for any such downsides or am I going to get hammered on resale in 3 years and generally messed around
Any current owners of 997C2S have a view on the value of the Chrono Pack which is NOT spec'ed (the balance measures up to what I would otherwise spec) - bearing in mind that I'm not looking at doing many track days
Thanks in anticipation - been with the Breadvan far too long - need to make a change and am thinking of taking whatever new steed I secure on the EuroHoon hence attraction to a vehicle that is immediately available

Personally I wouldn't bother with an import unless at least £5k saving. Porsche dealers weren't very interested in my rhd Mk1 GT3 with low miles when selling last year because it was orginally built for New Zealand market (but never went there). Unless things have changed, I'd avoid.
Talking of 997S, I've been looking at them too recently after having little luck finding a black 996TT X50. Local OPC had a well spec'd one but it was EU import so crossed that off the list.
Few questions:
1. Noticed a few 997S with multi-spoke wheels and older Cup design - anyone know if these are heavier than the standard S wheel, which I'm not overly keen on as a bit fussy looking?
2. Adaptive sports seats worth having over the normal sports seats, for trackdays?
3. The Sport Chrono package? The Porsche website says it has a "sport" button to sharpen up handling, engine response. Does the standard S not have this too? Is it really just the timing clock on dash that it adds?

I accompanied a friend of mine to Denmark to check over a new C16 spec 996 C2 a few years back which he subsequently purchased and shipped back to the UK.
He had the car for 3 years never had any problems with warranty and sold the car to a dealer at the end of his ownership.
The thing that made him purchase this way was the price differance. £10K under what the car would have cost in the UK!
I would expect a slightly bigger discount than £1k if you do decide to go this route.
If you want I probably still have the dealers details at home. I seem to remember that he sold nearly his entire stock into the UK and he did speak very good english!

Mine originally came from Denmark via a dealer "SMC-Biler" in Odense. When checking things out I got their number from their web-site and called them. Very helpful in confirming everything about the car.
C16 spec is what to look for and according to my findings should make no difference to resale value and readily accepted by both official and unofficial dealer network.

I'd be looking at more than £1k discount for the potential kick in the teeth at trade in time.
At launch I think there were three suspension set ups/options. Have you identified which one you want?
Good luck in sourcing a car quickly (Oh the 997S is a very capable car but have you considered a 996 GT3 mkII?)

I personally would not bother with the clock as all it does is change the throttle mapping and make you think the car is faster. Its a gimmick and a dumb one at that as I used to have it in my old M3 and never used it. Not even on trackdays.
As for a personal import I have no idea if they are a good or bad idea but a £1000 saving doesn't sound liek a lot to me.
I do have one very unique option that I love. The -20mm suspension as opposed to the PASM setup as standard. I find my car rides far better than the PASM in 'sport' mode and is never too harsh compared to the PASM in 'soft' mode. As a result my car appears to me to be far more responsive all of the time.
