Won't be too much longer until I need to replace the tyres on my car, they are 235/50R18 all round. Within reason cost isn't an issue, I'd rather get a better product, considering they're the only thing keeping me on the road.

I currently have Michelin Primacy 4s on there. Main concerns are obviously dry and wet grip, braking but also I want a quiet tyre too. I don't think the fuel difference between tyres will be that big, although obviously one that is more friendly on the wallet will always be welcome. Car must weigh around 2 tonnes so that is also a consideration.

I used to have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics on my old 7 series, I'm not sure how well regarded they are these days?

Many thanks!

Take a look here:

.

The Goodyear F1 Asy 5s are well rated and come in a bit cheaper than the MPS4 whilst being a similarly good all rounder. I had a set fitted recently to my 370z and so far they are proving a good choice.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/ is your friend smile

There's PS4's in that size which is a safe bet and should give you better performance than the Primacy, at the expense of a little rolling resistance and comfort.

PremiumContact6's are also available in that size; Haven't driven on them myself but if TyreReview's video is anything to go by, they should be a nice option for a touring tyre with excellent handling - They seem to do well on projected wear and rolling resistance too if memory serves.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2020-Tyre-Revi... - This is the one you need!

I put GY Eagle Assy5 on my E class in a similar size to you and I recommend them. Have PS4 on one of my other cars and I would have gone for them again but there was (and probably still is ) a huge price difference between them.

I'd vote for the goodyear AS. They grip, last well and don't make too much noise.

Continentals are nice tyres to drive, but tend to wear quickly. The Goodyear Asy 5 will wear better than the Continentals. They Goodyears are often found on sale too.

Jon off tyrereviews has said the PremiumContact 6 is falling behind and needs updating, so I’d avoid those.
