Now following on from the number of 'I hate parking my car anywhere' type threads, I recently had to park in a multi-story, now I usually avoid these at all costs, the corners are to tight, the spaces are to small, etc, but I was in a strange town (Derby) and didn't know any of my usual free quiet back street type parking places I usually use.
Anyway I found a multi-story near where I wanted to go and entered into it, well I was quite impressed, on entering you collected the usual ticket from the barriar machine, and proceaded to find a parking space, the corners were still to tight and the spaces quite small but inbetween some of the spaces were big yellow curtains hanging from the roof finishing below door height, so finding an empty space with curtains I popped the Chimaera into place, then reading the ticket I noticed a number on the back of the bay, this number you punched into a machine when you left your car and it activated some sort of CCTV, I don't know if this is quite common in large cities now as I don't frequent many car parks, but it got me thinking, how about a PH approved list of safe car parks so when we have to travel out of our own back yards we have a fighting chance of coming home in the same condition we went?
To start the ball rolling if you are in Derby it's the multi-story in the centre of town, past Debenhams, near Sadler Gate.

Bet the Chim sounded good echoing through a multi-storey!

Quite a few car parks have CCTV these days, and I think an independent body dishes out awards as well...

I know that car park (Bold Lane) from my days in Derby. IIRC you have a couple of minutes to get from the door (where you scan in your ticket on re-entry), to get to your car and pull off. If the car is moved without the ticket being scanned car park security is alerted and the car won't be able to leave through the gates. It also prevents people without a ticket from getting into the car park.

I think it was the first in the country, not seen it anywhere else though.

It did sound nice with the V8 rumble bouncing off the walls, some things you just never get board of! £20 to park a car, I'd want it washed and waxed when I got back, the Derby car park fee was £2.20 for the morning

Is that the car park in Derby near the Theatre?

It was indeed the Bold Lane car park, not sure if it's near the theatre
It was the anti bash curtains which impressed me more than the security features, although a bit of extra security is always nice, the curtains were in about 25% of the bays and must be 'cheap as chips' anyone seen them anywhere else?

The theatre car park is probably the Assembly Rooms, not Bold Lane. Speaking of which, I got my Peter Kaye tickets for the Assembly Rooms booked the other day!
