It seems to talking about power boost valve I was wondering about a direct replacement.... is it straightforward ie unbolt old... rebolt new or do you have to depressurise fuel system etc????
Paul,
Just undo the fuel line carefully to relaease any pressure and you'll be OK.
It's probably not worth fitting a replacement standard regulator, the uprated and adjustable FSE one is so much better giving better and smoother throttle response.
Very easy to fit too, just make sure you don't nip the 'o'ring and split it when you fit the new one.
My car was transformed after fitting one, the best modification I ever made, seriously the difference was great.

Just ease off a fuel line connection and the pressure (it's only a small amount) drops.
I think the Ford price for a standard regulator will probably not be much less than the FSE valve, shop around for a good price but IIRC these were good: -

Dunno about testing but my old one must be in the garage as I was tempted to buy the FSE variant a while back.
There was nothing wrong with the old one if you want to mail me. Thats a 2.9 as yours.
By the way, I have not found any real difference with the FSE but have not spent much time on it I must admit.I could not find out a way of setting and testing it without getting my garage to check emissions and mixture every time...they were less than enthusiastic!
How do you know if you have it set correctly?
