I read the title as BYO dolphin.

Which would be a major challenge for most locations…

I guess it will get proper reviews if/when BYD actually export some to UK etc.

Should be a good 25-30% cheaper than the MG 5 I think?

Not watched the video yet, so apologies if any of my questions sound stupid, but does anybody know if this comply with UK/EU crash/safety regs? The kerbweight is very low for an EV, which I think is quite interesting.

If it's released here then of course it will meet UK standards. Unfortunately since we are RHD it might not come here.

Weight is lower than you might expect because the batteries have less metal in them.

As always, no point getting concerned about what might be - we'll be better off just concentrating on what's here or what definitely happen.

There were some RHD BYD for sale on ebay about 12 months ago that had been brought across for a trial as taxis, so they may appear by other means

Looks like a very impressive effort if it's cheap enough.

I think he means is it built as EU compliant already? Being ready now or needing to redevelop the car for the EU are very different situations

China has its own crash standards and its a new car from a company with a decent crash test facility etc, if they export they'll need to pass ncap tests and I'm sure they considered that, the days of Chinese cars being terrible at crash safety are long gone tbh.

Saying that it may not break new records either, we'll have to wait..
