Has new E10 burnt a valve
Discussion
Just wondering really. Had my Panda 169 for 4 months and she was fine when I bought it with 88k miles on the clock.
the last few months ive thought she hasnt had the pull youd expect but there were no warning signs oil water temps all good. last month i noticed a slight rough running and then 2 weeks ago when coming home when accelerating it started making a rattly noise, lift off the gas and the noise went straight away. thought it was the gearbox but when coasting in neutral and revving it the noise returned and gain stopped when you lifted off the gas.
its the 1108cc active eco Panda engine (2010 model). Had the RAC out and they diagnosed a leaking injector and the noise suggested it was pinking due to bore wash.. When the injector plug was removed and the engine was revved she seemed to run lovely and smooth again and sounded strong too. However my garage have taken a closer look and said the injector (no.1) is working fine and that cylinder 1 is down on compression and the heads got to come off - they arent sure if its rings or a burnt valve but wont know until the head is removed so its looking expensive.
Question though......ive only run it on the new E10 so could this have caused my damaged valve if thats what it is? The gv website states it should run fine on E10.
Also any other thoughts on the possible problem here? no oil or gases in the coolant and no coolant in the oil which suggest the head gasket must be fine.
