Hi all,

I have an F31 330D.

I've been toy'ing with moving to an M340I or potentially a Merc C63. But both are a big jump in cost that I'd rather wait another 12 months to make so I'm not so financially stretched (hopefully prices dont continue to rise...)

Having had a 435D before, I do miss the added fun of that extra 50hp pull sometimes. While it wont compare with a 340I or a C63, I'm thinking the cost of a re-map might make the most sense for now.

My questions...

I've never re-mapped before. I'm sure there are lots of options. I am looking:

A. To have something that can be removed without much added cost when I come to sell the car
B. Companies in South East England (London and Herts is where I'm mostly between but happy to travel) that people would suggest checking out
C. Any pitfalls people would suggest to look out for?

Why do you need to remove it when selling the car?

I don't need to, per say, but I think the majority of joe public don't want a car with a remap on it.

Im sure there would be a buyer who wouldn't care, or might prefer it. But there will be more buyers who would prefer without.

Unfortunately it would seem BW Chiptune are a little all over the place with customer reviews at the moment too!

Just the google reviews is all I checked for now. Couple of people referencing the owners son taking over the business recently and offering a very different level of service.

Look for the best remap, that offers a warranty too (if it is actually worth anything) not the cheapest!

I've used Evolve a couple of times ( E36M3 and E92 335i ) and emaps twice as well ( E92 335D and F06 640D ). Both companies have excellent reputations and all 4 maps have been superb with zero issues.

Evolve are in Luton https://www.evolveautomotive.com/ and emaps https://www.e-maps.co.uk/ are based in Birmingham but will travel to you. Simon at e-maps is a top bloke....... specialises in BMWs; last time I spoke with him he was running an N55 335i. I've never seen a negative comment about Simon's maps..........quite remarkable considering how long he's been in the game. Superb value too. Some testimonials here https://www.e-maps.co.uk/about-us/
