Family friendly touring site on south coast?
Discussion
Can anyone recommend a nice family friendly touring site on the south coast? We wanted to go to Lulworth Cove but couldn’t find any particularly decent sites online. We’ve done a fair bit of Devon/Cornwall so would appreciate suggestions between Weymouth and Bournemouth.
Our favourite site in the UK is currently Kelling Heath in Norfolk. Anything like that would be perfect.
Thanks.

We're going to Warner/Bunn Leisure at Selsey tomorrow for three nights. Not been there before but seems to have lots going on. Looks like a huge site with "entertainment" and bar and restaurants as well as swimming pools etc.
Not cheap at £82 for three nights but I'm worth it
Apparantly in high season it's £70 per night

This place does touring pitches. Stayed in a static before here, less than 5 mins to a great beach for fossil hunting. The touring pitches looked great when we had a walk around

It's approx 30 mins from Weymouth down the coast road from West Bay (a cracking bit of road following Chesil Beach)

Higher Moor Camp site in Weymouth is good, I can’t remember if it’s open all year round though.
We’ve also used the C&MHC site at Crossways which was surprisingly good, it’s more like a collection of CLs as opposed to a large site.
We stayed there ( higher moor campsite) a couple of years in a row. Great little site with basic amenities but a very clean site. I seem to remember the bar was good and a pizza van would turn up once a week too (they were lovely). My missus always wants something with a pool now despite us staying pretty damn close to the sea!! So Higher Moor has been crossed off the list....We’ve also used the C&MHC site at Crossways which was surprisingly good, it’s more like a collection of CLs as opposed to a large site.
We now go a little further to the West and stay in/ near Charmouth. Our kids love it there (fossil hunting etc.) and also Lyme Regis, Beer, Seaton and Sidmouth not too far either.
Love Kelling Heath.
Used to eat there when I was a kid and parents had a small static in West Runton.
When with the family a couple of years ago with our motorhome and although a little dated still a great place.
We have stayed at Highlands End Holiday Park near to Bridport and it a pool and nice walks down to West End and along the Jerrasic Coast.

Just back from Bunn Leisure site and whilst it's a huge site with over FIVE THOUSAND mobile homes, it's just not our kind of place and we won't go back. There's a bus to take you round the site but it's a five min walk from the touring pitches to the bus stop. Went to one of the bars but can't go in with the dogs, but it's OK to sit outside with them.
Neighbour decided, when she came back from the pub at midnight, that that's a good time to put her music on. Loud. Site security didn't answer their phone but it was OK, she turned it off at half one.
And what really gets my goat is with site fee this time of year at £50 a night they have the nerve to charge for WIFI. Why when it doesn't cost them anything?
One good thing is the toilet block. Spotlessly clean and underfloor heating made it really hot with outside temp around 8-10o C. And the showers were good.
We won't go back.

We went to Bunn last year, wow, just full of pond life, never again.
Just outside Bridport, Highlands End is fantastic, also we like Newlands which is just up the road.
Wareham Forest Touring Park is nice too.
On a smaller scale to Bunn Leisure is Freshwater at Bridport, great for kids, but some clients can be a little rough around the edges.

Newlands is good if you have kids. Ours always enjoyed the entertainment. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools (although basic) were also an attraction. As mentioned previously, our kids love Charmouth beach, searching for fossils for hours on end.....Just outside Bridport, Highlands End is fantastic, also we like Newlands which is just up the road.

Probably going back there next year....

Can confirm this. Nice location, right on the coastal path, well managed, minimal pond-life count, definitely recommendGassing Station | Tents, Caravans & Motorhomes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
