At a loss as to what next.

I've had classic play cars for the last 15yrs
MG midget, liked very much but not very everyday
Sunbeam Alpine, As above
Mercedes SL R129 useable daily spent loads refurbing but now change of circumstances means its time to part
So what?
It'll live outside, won't be used daily but capable of it. and fit in with life (I don't want to have to make excuses to drive it) A/C and the ability to comfortably waft to the South of France.
Other qualities, carry me, wife + 2 dogs on back seat, + luggage. Feel special and make me smile, not be too smart. (I want to use it not worry about it) simple enough to be maintained at home.
Upto about £10k any bright ideas?

Maybe something like an E320 cabriolet?

Prices are a bit silly at the moment, but a quick look shows this one only just over your budget, and already in Southern Europe

Classics don't like living outdoors and they are not exactly primed for daily duties if needed to be pressed in to service at short notice.
Perhaps something more modern like a Vauxhall Cascada might fit the bill.
This one is pricey at £10k, but maybe reflective of the low miles.

I'd thought of these, like them but fancy a change from MB. But they do come with a nice straight 6 auto box and power hood, does anyone know how wide the back seat is? Prices are a bit silly at the moment, but a quick look shows this one only just over your budget, and already in Southern Europe

I don't like that particular example, but I do like the model. I thought I was the only one though! Like most of these things, tight in the rear (ooeer) but with Lexus reliability. As an alternative, how about an XK8? Soft or hard top available and look great.

Sweet looking Bentley 8 for £7750, if you like that sort of thing and you can live with the consumption.
Not too far away from you either.
Just a thought....

Not just you, and I think the SC 430 looks better and better as each year passes. Don't care for the rims on the example I linked to, but on the plus side the radio is tuned in to Magic FM.As an alternative, how about an XK8? Soft or hard top available and look great.
