While doing several post-SORN jobs this week I took off the shift change light cowl to change a bulb.

With the top of the dash pod also off I sprayed the back-wiring with some electrical contact cleaner. Now the LCD has gone faint. It still works but the display is not right--faint and streaked.

Have I buggered it with the spray?

Hey Madwud,

Sorry to hear about your problem, but good to hear you got a Tuscan - which one did you get in the end?

I think I'm fine. Working on a hunch that some radiant heat might dry any spray, I warmed the car up this morning until the first fan kicked in. Checked the LCD and all appears fine.

Now wondering weather to get the cowl re-leathered while its off scratchchin

I bought the black Mk1 S from Amore. If you Google LG02 HUY someone has posted pictures in the past. 1500 miles in and nothing mechanical so far. No leaks or drips. Busying myself with minor trim and electrical stuff now its in hibernation.

Cheers
Martin

Glad to hear you found a good car Martin. I remember seeing that car, black with grey interior. Very nice.

Also glad to hear the lcd is sorted smile

Yes, its very striking. And very black. Bat-mobile black!

Recent owners haven't stinted on upgrades and improvements. It handles and performs exactly as you'd want a fully sorted "S" to do.

Thus very happy so far.

Awesome news. I looked long and hard at the black S that was for sale in Essex in the summer, and loved the bat-mobile-esq exterior, but that one had a really really read interior which I just didn’t like. You definitely got a better combo.
