Hi Chaps

I am in need of a new wiper motor - where is the best place to get one? any upgrade to be aware of?

for the earlier versions (mounted in the engine bay) you should use adrian venn .. his wiper motor refurbs are the dogs bits smile

What's wrong with the existing motor?

Thanks Guys.

Its a 96 car, so sits under bonnet above near side arch.

Think mine is just a shiny bit of Chinese ebay crap. Very irregular movement. Power to it all looks good.

Irregular movement could be worn wheelboxes (the bit the wipers fit on).
If you take the top cover off the 'box you can release the drive cable and move the motor/box out of the way.
Push and pull the drive cable and see if it moves freely with a smooth action. You will most likely need to take the arms off.

If this is ok you can check out the drive gear in the motor which is mainly Nylon. These are available as spare parts from the likes of Car Builder Solutions as are complete replacement wiper motors however the TVR one was a higher power rating. If yours is Chinese then it is probably not high power anyway.

The higher power ones are no longer available I believe.

Thanks Steve

All looks fine in regards to wear or just crud. But at £85 brand new off Fleabay - it was bound to be a dud!

I fitted the upgraded Tvr parts one to mine and was very impressed with the wiper performance afterwards, not cheap though.

Not going to be very helpful for most, but going to put a pair of these bad boys on my Chimaera restomod: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CV-RanAjXYl/?utm_sour...

No linkage, no park switch, infinitely adjustable wipe angles, speeds, intervals, torque (apparently in max setting they're strong enough to bend the wiper arm!).

Last time i looked tvr parts only had the motor not the complete assembly, and was more expensive than the refurb from adrian venn anyway.

Adrian has the motors re-wound, and the whole assembly comes back looking like new.

Dave85chim : I know he keeps his social media presence low key nowadays so I will PM you his details so you can get in touch
