There was a court ruling that said shell had to cut its emissions by 45% by 2030, and that ruling only applied to the Netherlands. Id say thats the reason for the move.

You could be right but unlikely to be the only reason? Maybe a positive for brexit uk?

Although reading that the restructuring will increase the company’s ability to execute buybacks makes me think that some of the motivations might be more related to the compensation packages of the executives smile.

I’m asking rather than opining, looking forward to some more analysis on the “why”s of this.

Article's first few sentences give the official reaspns (as below). Personally can't see the Dutch letting it happen, they'll try to accommodate them some how. Could be just corporate threats to get a better deal. Secondly can't see the EU allowing the Dutch to allow it to happen (the Brits must be punished you know!)

"The oil giant will ask shareholders to vote on shifting its tax residence from the Netherlands to the UK.

It also wants to do away with its dual share structure in favour of just one class of shares to boost "the speed and flexibility" of shareholder payouts."

Interesting, if this was the other way round, the normal suspects would have this up to about 15 pages about how bad Brexit is (whether it was actually related to Brexit or not).

How will the move affect the ruling? Are you saying it would no longer apply?

For those frothing at the mouth shouting victory for Brexit etc etc.. how many actual staff do you think will be moving to London?

This from the Times:

"As for jobs, Shell plans to move just nine staff to the UK, including Van Beurden and Jessica Uhl, its chief financial officer. Including support staff, the group will add fewer than a couple of dozen people to its UK workforce".
