Hi everyone.

I've done quite a few searches on this and I've seen the previous threads, so apologies if this is duplication, but there doesn't seem to be much information on Cerakote.

I'm gathering quotes for cermic coating the stock manifold and Y piece. The first quote has come back is from Maldon Shot Blasting & Powder Coating for a Cerakote coating.

https://ctc-powder-coating.co.uk/high-performance-...

I've also had a quote from Performance 1 for the Volcanic Range, which is slightly more expensive, but comparably priced.

https://www.performance1coatings.com/volcanic-rang...

Does anyone have any experiences with Cerakote? How does it compare to Zircotec?

I am interested in the cosmetic side as much as the performance.

I was initially looking at painting them myself with POR15/20, but with the cost of blasting and paint, then the time and effort involved, I'm wondering if ceramic is the way to go? I presume it's longer lasting too?

Any feedback appreciated smile

I looked at this a while ago, basically your not comparing apple for apples, the zircotech is plasma sprayed and a much better product. I went that route and it works well, however the finish does mark so make sure your hands are clean when fitting the manifolds, It’s comes down to price and performance on which case zircotech wins but is more expensive !! Pays yer money and take yer choice

Thanks for the reply. Which finish/colour did you get?

The volcanic range isn't plasma sprayed. Here's the description from the email reply

"Volcanic Range - A polymer ceramic application, this is guaranteed for road use only and will reduce the surface temperature of the exhaust by up to 15%. The coating is available in a choice of black, silver, titanium, tungsten grey, gold and green. The coating has a 1 year guarantee (road use only). "

Primary Black is ~75% more expensive, performance white is more than twice as expensive and performance colour is nearly 3 times as expensive. These are all plasma applied, but getting too expensive for what I'm hoping to achieve.

I went for the metallic black, to be honest if it’s cosmetics your after then go for Maldon option. I wanted the best thermal reduction hence zircotech

Years ago I had my Speed Six manifolds coated by Zircotec themselves ( An off shoot of Harwell Nuclear Establishment... because they coated nuclear reactor pipes!!) I had mine done in stirling silver (twice) because it flacked off, which they agreed was their fault, in preparation. They are good... especially in heat reduction terms... if you are brave you touch a hot exhaust smile , but the finish does go over time... don't expect it to last forever.
