I have made the decision I’m going to buy another c63 come spring time just sold my current one hopefully be able to get a 507 come spring.

Anyway requirements

AWD/4WD
Petrol or Diesel as long as it’s decent on fuel 30mpg will do
Estate form for throwing shi*e in the back
Reliable is a must
Have no desire for it to be fast or even nippy don’t care about performance

Plan is stuck 4 winter tires on and that’s that

Can only think right now of forester/impreza na, maybe a Audi estate Quattro of some description ?

Doesn't really tick the estate box but Fiat Panda 4x4?

Volvo XC70 D5. It doesn’t get more winter estate hack. Comfy, heated seats, robust, 16” rims for cheap winter tyres. Job done.

Subaru legacy, at that budget you'll mostly be looking at 2.0l n/a but could maybe squeeze the 3.0 in (but wouldn't get close to your mpg goal)

Practical, reliable, spacious and nice to drive

Oh, but avoid the diesel, major reliability issues, petrols are awesome though

First generation Honda CR-V in Petrol/Manual with very low mileage?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202108266...

At this price point I would be keen to avoid any modern-ish diesel for the expensive borkage potential when you just want cheap, reliable winter transport that won't give you any headaches.

Agree it is a great car but at this price point you will only get a high miler which has potential to throw up expensive gearbox issues.

This. I’ve just bought the 2.0 estate as a dump run shed. So far, so good and comfortable on long runs…

hehe I genuinely recently bought a 2003 X5 diesel for a tip run shed for a mere £1200, and to be fair they are very reliable mechanically, despite many, many bits falling off and/or don't work such as windows, 50% of the dash buttons & 90% of the instrument cluster, door handles, parking sensors.... BUT(!) nothing that stops it moving or gaining real MOTs. The V8 one I cannot vouch for, but you absolutely should get the V8 one

The R32 is pretty much the only Golf I'd actually buy the V6 adds a layer that the 4 pots can't at which point you'll forgive that it's not the sharpest steer & enjoy the engine note.

Nice buy OP beer

Thanks you’re right about the steer although I have been driving my fd2 for the past month on and off and that’s probably not helping since that’s such a pinpoint steer, all in all it’s just a stop gap and it sounds lovely imo.
