Looking for recommendations on either a classic car restoration place or a regular bodyshop that would take on cutting out some rusty floor sections and welding in fresh steel on my old Peugeot 205. Ideally would be in or around Glasgow area to make transporting the car a bit easier.

I've tried a few local bodyshops but they all just want to do insurance work and dent/smart repairs as it's easier money. Searches have brought up a few horror stories of places that charge the earth. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Sorry for the FB link but your car sounds like it would right up Craigs' street. Based in EK.

Have you found anywhere?
If you're not in a hurry I might be able to help.. in the New Year.
Not a pro but have been welding old MG's for years! I'm in East Calder which isn't particularly close to Glasgow but my rate will more than make up for the cost of transport wink

I know this is an old thread, but I thought it better than starting a new one..
Has anyone had any good experiences getting structural welding done? I’ve got a 1975 W114 Merc 250 and it needs new floor panels, but I've not managed to find anyone on Google who’ll consider looking at it. Happy to trailer it further afield if necessary..

Try MAC Bodyworks in Newmilns.

No actual experience of using them but when I popped in past with my niece's R50 Mini they were very friendly and also do classic cars.

Not exactly down the road but reasonably close by.
