Typical, not had car a week, and rain!!!
Discussion
Bloody weather!!
Since I picked up my Chim last Wednesday, I had a couple of days of nice weather, but since then, we seen to have rain of biblical proportions!!!
Have ordered a Leven hood cover, should be here today, not soon enough though, as the inside is starting to get damp!! and nothing I can do about it!!!
I did drive it Sunday, and have to say that I did drive with consideration, and the car did behave impeccably, which was pleasing, as everyone was telling me that TVR's are no good in the wet!
You guys are right about the attention these cars get, when on the M5 sunday, we had 3 cars drive next to us to hear the engine, and they put their thumbs up, smiling and nodding!! and I thought you were joking about stuff like that!!
When I picked the car up, a day later, I put a tenner's worth of Tesco petrol in the Chim, the Ron 95 stuff, but I had noticed that, when accelarating, the engine stuttered slightly. I have since used Optimax and it seems so much smoother, anyone else found this?
Ah well, back to work, and staring at my very wet new Chim, and wondering if the trim's getting any wetter!

Remember only to put the cover on when it's dry . . otherwise it'll be a tad mouldy and messy!
Get those damp spots seen to asap (if they are bad) and remember to fit that roof tidily around the door, behind the headrest - get that velcro all snug and make sure the roof isn't tucked in behind the door so that the rain should pour down and OFF the car.
Rain won't be here for ever - and winter dry driving is awesome in the car - never cold!

I know what you mean about the weather, typical that it should start raining, I picked up my chim last Thursday and the only clear day since was saturday
Still it is winter
I had some intresting reactions to the car, boys on BMX saying cool car and 4x4 drive calling me a fu*ker and sticking his fingers up for no reason at all, techinally correct but still not nice.

Thanks for the advice Rob and craig, the inside isnt too bad really, just damp in some places which may have been from going out in the rain Sunday, the road/motorway was VERY wet. I just hope we have a long enough dry spell for the car to dry. I will start it up later for 10 mins with the heater on to expidite drying.
Dreamer, that was uncalled for from that driver who swore at you!! The reason I bought a TVR is that it is wholly unpretentious, and I'm pretty sure 99% of people who buy them love driving, and the fact that they sound so great is a bonus!(just don't use Ron 95 petrol!!!) I think silly little woman who drive their silly big bugger 4x4s 200 yards down the road to pick up and take their kids to school more annoying, I even had one nearly hit me last winter, because she tried to avoid a puddle on her side of the road!! and thats true!
Chris ( who would if he could bring his Chim into the living room to dry!)

4x4 drivers? Most think the idea of off-road is pavement parking!
Check your horns are not mounted facing forwards - otherwise they can get flooded, especially in the predicted monsoons of now!
If you leave outside in the rain/damp them overnight - the engine gets a bit damp and starting can be a bit bumpy! Just let it warm up properly . . and don't floor it!

I think the sticker fitted near the cap and the comment in the owner's handbook that states use Super Unleaded says it all. See unleaded FAQ on www.tvrbooks.co.uk or int'bible for more details.

Steve,
I know that now,, but I did ask the dealer at Kings in Warwick what is the best fuel to use, and he said it doesnt matter, any, will run fine on any uleaded fuel, he told me!!! But, as I said, when accelerating, the car did stutter, but hasn't since the cheapo fuel has been 'purged'!
By the way, went to order your book on the Griff and Chim yesterday, only to be told it's out of print and being re-writtn at the mo,, and I really wanted that book!!
Just had my Leven hood cover arrive, but car's too wet for me to put it on god dammit!!!

Totally agree with Leadfoot (if you know what he means
)!
It's inexcusable to be told that normal unleaded is OK when the sticker clearly states 98RON only!
If they get something as simple as this wrong it doesn't fullfil you with much trust does it!

I could tell you some stories about "that dealer"! Suffice to say my Chim will get serviced elsewhere. I'm in Stroud and will be looking at Cerberus to do the next service - look them up on the previous threads - the guy used to be the service tech a Broughtons when they were a TVR dealer.

Robkola describes it perfectly - my ECU couldn't decide between 900 & 1200 rpm this morning but after 10 miles was fine (raining all night). Moral...Don't panic Mr Mannerin'...

Hi Mart,
I've been considering them for my next service. Let me (or all of us!) know how you get on.
Used Peninsula last time on their weekend break. Fine service, but the B&B was nothing special so I wouldn't want to it every 6 months!
Broughtons didn't actually have a particularly good reputation really, though I think that was more of a company attitude thing rather than technical competence. I wouldn't have used Brought., but I'm interested in Cerberus.
Cheers,
Andy
