I've considered Polo's, Golf's, Fiesta's all the way up to RX7's and Evo's. However, practical head, I've got 2 young kids, it will be my daily drive.
Looking for something newish, swaying towards an auto and not diesel.

What would you get and why?

Does something like a BMW M140i or M240i appeal to you? A good all round car with an automatic gearbox and not a diesel. Plus they offer strong performance too, if that floats your boat.

Something like this F10 550i could be fun, comfy fast.

The Peugeot 508 Fastback looks fantastic, only one petrol for sale under £20,000 on AutoTrader though. If you’re near Bristol I’d definitely have a try of that or look out for others near you. One of the best looking cars on the road I think and Peugeot have made great leaps forward.

My only concern with the Peugeot is resale. How much am I going to lose on it?!

Obviously going to lose a bit on any car, but the floor value does worry me.

Will definitely check one out though.

640i GranCoupe M Sport

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202108176...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202106053...

W211 E63 Estate obviously this is dependent on your daily mileage, these are depreciating slowly & they're pretty bulletproof.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110148...

W212 E63

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110188...

W212 E500 great car for daily duties & a nice car to boot:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110128...

Lexus IS-F very underrated with 340i running costs & a very special car that's in budget, it should be very high up your list:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110258...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111089...

Like the ISF above the VXR8 has done all it's depreciating & has sensible running costs to boot also like the Lexus above a simple change of unit will give you all the modern connectivity you could need.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202105152...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111099...

Out of the above the IS-F & VXR8 would be getting my vote.

If you need the car to be a bit more practical (although the GcranCoupe ticks a lot of boxes) & sensible on fuel then there are these options.

Giulia Super 280 this would be my first pick if I was going for a 2.0T drivetrain, they're a good drive as well as a great looking car:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111109...

Veloce 280

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111159...

Maserati Ghibli V6

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111029...

Jaguar XE S a very good steer with a very sweet V6

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111019...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202109217...

2.0T Stinger 250

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111089...

Superb Sportline 220

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111029...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110278...

Leftfield.

Q50h Sport Hybrid 365, properly quick whilst being good on fuel not an out & out drivers car but they drive well:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110098...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111079...

Out of the practical options it would be the Giulia XE S & 335i followed by the leftfield Q50h.

Thank you ZX10R NIN.

After some careful consideration (I spoke to the wife) 10k-15k is a more sensible budget.

However, I am going to check out a couple of Audi’s today and hopefully a Giulia.

I quite like that. De-chrome, de-badge, put some nice wheels on it.

Not sure why the ad says 78k miles but the picture of the clocks has 24k pasted over it!

Ah boo! Wives eh, always spoiling our fun!

How much is the Giulia up at? I assume over £15k?

How about these for under £15k...

Currently at £19k, but negotiable. So it's not a no yet!

Thank you again, I'll check them out.

I have a Leon Cupra ST which makes for a good family wagon with a turn of speed. Not sure if they fall in budget but maybe worth a look.

Id take a punt on an older Evo if you fancy one and can find a good one, just convince the OH they are very practical!
Much more exciting than a Golf or Bmw.

Update: I'm swaying towards either a C Class or a saloon S3.

When I finally buy something I'll give you all another update.

I'd go for this if all options are open, as I think they're the nicest shape C Class, and who wouldn't want an AMG! wink
