I am in need of some help for how to amend my CV.

I was in a job from 09/17 to 04/19
Started a new job briefly from 04/19 to 09/19
Went back to the first job in the exact same role and I am still here currently.

To update my CV I'm not sure how to put this in, do I keep the full description and details on the 1st entry, then have details for the in between job and then just have a title of the first/current job with the dates I returned. It doesn't seem right to duplicate the details again?

If I added all the dates of employment with the first/current on to the first entry on my CV then had the in between job as the last entry on the CV, in my eyes that looks a bit confusing or may be missed by potential employers.confused

Thanks for any guidance!

For me, when reviewing CV's I would rather the applicant provided a brief explanation of anything like this, that might appear 'confusing'. Doesnt need to be lengthy, but just enough to explain why.

At the end of the day, you just have to get through the interview stage - I am sure that if you come across well and match the skill set they are looking for, any 'blip' in a CV like this will not even be taken into account.

Sausage Hammerer, Sept 2019 - Present, & Sept 2017 - April 2019

Custard tester, April 2019 - Sept 2019

With a brief explanation as to how custard testing was a short term contract or didn’t work out, however Frozen Hammer Corp valued you highly enough to encourage you to return.

Almost totally agree however I would keep sausage hammering in chronological order i.e. Sept 2017 - April 2019 and Sept 2019 - Present.

Perfect, that sounds good to me thanks!

My current job is within the motor trade and the job I'm applying for is also within it, the short job was with the local authority so not strictly relevant but the job does look good on my CV if it was only brief, and i can't really leave a 5-6 month gap wobble

Cheers!

A gap is way worse than admitting to be a custard tester.

Sorry to disagree but I think you need to be really careful on how you write this up and explain it. I hire a lot of people and if I saw someone had left their job briefly, started something else and then quickly returned I would be very nervous they would do the same thing again. They would take my job because it sounds interesting/well paid etc and then quit after a few weeks and go back to their old job again. I'm not saying not to mention it but I think that you need to be really clear about why you have done this and why you stopped doing it and why you are now looking to move again.
