Bit out of touch with modern tech so bear with me...

Mrs Lufbramatt wants to listen to music whilst out running. Several of my cycling buddies have recommended Aftershokz bone conducting heaphones, no issue there, they seem like a good idea. but they're wireless only.

so I need a device that can store and stream music to the headphones via bluetooth. She doesn't want to take a big clumpy phone out with her while running, needs to be as small and light (and ideally vaguely waterproof) as possible.

I have a NAS full of MP3 and AAC music files so source material not an issue.

Ideally less than £100 if such a thing exists, and not some random make off Amazon.

Sounds like she needs a smartwatch. Garmin are the go-to fitness watch manufacturer and they have several models that will give her everything she needs in terms of GPS tracking and running stats, plus lets her download Spotify playlists to listen to on the run.

There might be something cheap and nasty for under £100 but a halfway decent watch will be more in the £200 range. But worth it in the long run if you ask me.

I know she doesn't want to carry a phone, but Mrs Bill uses a pouch like this When I've used it it holds the phone snuggly in the small of your back and isn't noticeable unless you really think about it.

Yes- I had considered that option, but she already has a Garmin GPS running watch which I don't really want to replace.

Yes that could work. I do have an old Iphone 5s which is relatively small which I could use without a sim and just load up with music. hmmmm

AfterSkokz have models that include MP3 storage and have a built-in player (but don't have Bluetooth connectivity).

Iwatch, or Google clone if you don’t have an iPhone.

It records the run and also stores the playlist from your phone.

If the need arises, you can also use it to buy a drink halfway through the run.

Looks like probably the best solution! Hadn't seen those as they're marketed as swimming but looks like they use the same casing as the other ones so no reason not to use them for running.
