uncorking the exhaust system

I have a 2009 BD9 and heard about removing fuse 22 to "uncork" the exhaust system. When I went to do that I realized that there is no fuse in position 22. The car sounds normal, idles quiet, louder when started and at higher rpms, so I think the system is working correctly. My car is a coupe but there is a 30 amp fuse in position 21 for "convertible deck lip lock motors", and a 30 amp fuse in position 16 for "convertible roof pump". Could the exhaust system be controlled by a fuse in a position other than 22. Anyone else run across this issue ?

Were you in the boot or the engine bay. There is an unused fuse 22 in the engine bay, that’s not it.. If you were in the boot and there was no fuse 22 then the job has already been done by the previous owner.

Edited to add: just reread your post.. suspect previous owner has already done the job. You can also look under the car and move the valves manually

Hi, yes it was the boot fuse box on the left side, same as the schematic you showed. As a test, I put a 20 amp fuse in the 22 position and there is no difference at all. Have you ever heard of the exhaust being wired in a different position ? ..... and why would they put 30 amp fuses in positions 21 and 16 which are clearly marked as intended for a Volante model ?

It is possible for the exhaust flaps to seize.
Might be worth looking at them, you should be able to freely move them by hand.

the valves seem to be working fine and the exhaust acts as advertised during start up and at higher rpms. I'm going to do some experimenting with the fuses in positions 16 and 21 and see what happens !

Fuse 22 is correct for model year 2009. At some point later on, it changed to fuse 15, but not sure whether that was just Vantage or all models.

When fuse 22 is removed, it only makes a difference (from OEM) between about 1500 rpm and about 4000 rpm anyway, so might that aspect be causing confusion?
