As the title, I’ve got a property which has off street parking d garage but it’s not directly connected to the property. Any home charger solutions for this type of arrangement, must be lots of households in the same situation.

I seen some mole type solutions but don’t seem that common and probably expensive with legal issues for cables run under land you don’t own.

Do you have power at the garage? If not the question is not really about chargers. It’s about running a power feed to a remote garage across land land you don’t own

You would probably need the land owners permission to tunnel under their land.

No existing power to the garage, getting land owners permission not that hopeful. There is a road in front, not of council will allow tunnel under it. Must be loads of household in similar position, no immediate rush to get it yet, hopefully longer term maybe some legislative changes or solutions by the time I need it.

Try to get a new supply from the DNO

May cost a few £ but a good investment in the long run I would say

Worth asking the council. Homes with no charging facility are going to be worth a lot less in a few years time.

People in this situation don’t have a lot of choices. My parking space is not next to my property either and my solution… move house. You might have some chance getting permission so worth asking otherwise you are stuck with one of the charging van services that go around topping up electric cars.

It’s a property I rent out so no immediate need to do it, tenants not asked for it. I saw a Facebook post from the local council asking about charging solutions and how they can help.

With any luck there maybe more operators and a solution found, found these guys while I was looking.

This.

Just to get it out of the way, solar on 1 box (if 5,5m by 3m) would get you 3x3 panels, good for 1200wP.
This could easily net 1MWh/year if they can be placed optimally, which would be barely enough for 5000km or 3000 miles.
The biggest reason aside from that why this doesn't work is that:
  1. Your car would need to be at home to do this. So during the day.
  2. 1MWh/year doesn't mean 3kW/day of course. It means days of 10kW in the summer and days near 0 in the winter.

However you look at it you need power to a charger and I can't see how that get around that.

Sunflower thing looks nice ....for £23,000!
