Rs Trophy R - less is more
Discussion
After owning—and losing—a small fortune on cars that I quickly got bored of, I took a punt and bought one of the last new Trophy R’s left.
Though my friends take the piss about the decals and orange wheels (I have the Carbons tucked away safely), this is by far the most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned.
The engine has ample power for UK roads, sounds fantastic too, and the whole setup—particularly the suspension and overall feel—makes it a truly exciting car to take out for an early morning drive.
The only downside I found was that the original gearbox was difficult to shift and ruined the car’s natural flow, so I invested in a CAE quickshift, which transformed the vehicle.
Instead of trying to hurtle myself towards the horizon, I now spend time perfecting my heel-and-toe technique.
Anyway, a quick photo before she’s put away—but if you want something truly special, try one, and then try a short-shift box!

Lovely car but what on earth is going on with the rear camber in those pics!
Also looks better on the orange wheels even though the carbons have there advantages
Looks like the photo has been taken using panoramic setting (maybe because the whole car wouldn’t fit in the picture using a normal setting?).Also looks better on the orange wheels even though the carbons have there advantages
It’s a great looking car though - I quite fancy a regular RS300 (despite reading lots of fairly bad stuff regarding the build quality). I’d also love it in the lurid orange or yellow but my wife would probably think I’d gone mental!
