USB Stick Computers

Does anyone have experience of using one of these as an ultra small NAS. I have a Synology but don't have it switched on all the time and wondered if a stick PC would be the simplest way to have 1000s of photos available to view for the family.

I have a couple of Pi's which work great, one is a PiHole and is never turned off, that'd do with a big SD card?

Or what about Google Photos?

Why not just leave the NAS on all the time? Problem solved.
