Cat Dog Left Right

Which pet do you have (or would you choose), and what is your general political leaning? If you have both a cat and dog, which one do you prefer (It's ok, I won't tell them). If you label yourself a centrist, get off the fence.

Just curious after a discussion at work.

Of all the polls we have had this must be the most bizarre and useless in terms of voting choice.

Two cats and two dogs, one of us leans left, one of us right so what does that tell you. And we have no favourites.

What was discussed at work anyway, and what was the general outcome?

I suspect you are thinking that all dog owners are council and all cat owners are a bit posh

Dogs lie at either end of the spectrum, both council and landed gentry. Cats are more middle class academics (the owners, not the animals. The animals are much easier - Dogs are social animals which rely on handouts for survival, cats are solitary cold killers who should you be shrunk to the size of a mouse would kill you in an instant, despite years of you doting on their fuzzy little heads).

You could argue that dog owners are further to the right (working class, old left, now ironically considered on the right thanks to Brexit, or posh shooty types), as you need lots of time to look after them properly, so either independently wealthy, or workshy. Cats can be left at home all day, so suit lower-middle class working couples.

It's all bks of course, but there were some interesting arguments being presented. Hence the poll.

Cat owners tend to be more intelligent than dog owners.

Cats also communicate very subtly, which can be seen to make them appear aloof, when in reality people just miss the communication signals.

They can be as loyal as dogs as well.

One of our dogs is probably closer to the work shy and the other one the independantly wealthy.

What about a poll to see if the cats or dogs themselves are right or left wing?

One of my dogs is actually a bit racist but only against people that aren’t white, he doesn’t mind Eastern Europeans as long as they aren’t too dark skinned.

I suppose if he’s anti semitic he’d be a lefty racist and if he’s against foreigners he’d be more right wing racist? He doesn’t seem to believe in sharing his food or any trickle down economics or have much of a view on the size of the state.

He likes the beach and the sea and I expect he’d be happy to welcome people arriving on a boat suddenly depending on their skin tone?

My cat seems pretty left wing as he thinks others should provide for him without him doing much for himself but then again he’s into sitting above everyone in his perch and being a bit snooty. Perhaps he’s a Champagne socialist?

My cat is a communist. Everybody in the house is equal but he's more equal than everyone else.
