Deodorant Marks

I am getting utterly sick of having to throw perfectly servicable (and expensive) formal shirts out after only 8 months or so due to the horrible marks left by anti-persp deodorants.

Does anyone have any idea how to eliminate/minimise the problem/get the stains out etc?

Not using anti-persp isn't really considered an option:)

Sounds ridiculous i know but are you spraying your shirt or your Arm pit ??

I dont seem to have a problem with my shirts ??

From what you say, skid marks are not a current problem.....

On my arm pit (making sure it's all dry before putting the shirt on)!

What anti-persp do you use? I've tried Gillette, Right Guard, Mitchum and Nivea and suffered the same problem with all of them

I use a deodorant (Lynx) as opposed to an anti-persp and never had any probs with shirts from Pink, T M Lewins or Charles Terwight(?).

Have you tries changing brands

I use that stuff with a tick as it's logo and have never had a problem with this. Give it a try.

Did use the stuff made by the same people who make the best razors a man can get but that did seem to leave marks and also started to give me a rash after a few months.

I have heard that rubbing ordinary hair shampoo is supposed to get deodorant marks out, but I've never tried it.

IIRC (and it's a while since I've had anything to do with textiles) it the aluminium in the anti-persps which builds up on the shirt & causes the white/yellow stains.

I switched to a non Aluminium deoderant (no anti-pers) & all my newer shirts are OK.
A bit of googling has brought up that white vinegar or a little bit of bleach could help but can't vouch for them

I use Gillette cool wave, no probs at all.... Not sure how my shirts are washed though, they all go to Morrisons

I use Persperex once a week then normal deodorant.
Persperex blocks your sweat glands from producing sweat - works a treat but my brow is dripping

Asda shirts - £7 a pack of 2

So cheap its even worth buying more to save having to spend time ironing the old ones

i use the sure one that is specifically designed not to leave the marks - forgotten what its called - clear ice or something as i to have had many shirts ruined!!

Is this an anti-persp, or just a deodorant? If it's the latter, I'll have to give it a go.

Is that healthy (relatively speaking as I can imagine that plugging the glands with aluminium from a regular anti-persp can't be especially good for the body)?

Once you've experienced the likes of Pink, Tyrwhitt et al, there's no going back to cheapo products

Also as I'm 6'5" and have gibbon arms, I have to buy from a shirtmaker which offers longer sleeve lengths, and not many (any?) high street places do...

but although youd not have to iron youd have those silly fold marks which screams the shirts just come out of the pack!
