I think I should have put 'purchase' in my subject title for this thread http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?t=196092&f=95&h=0

Basically, is this a good buy?

Intel Centrino 1.6GHz, 2MB cache, 533MHz FSB.
1024MB Fast Dual Channel DDRII RAM (2 x 512MB).
Graphics Media Accelerator 900.
80GB Hard Drive.
56K Modem, Built in Wireless LAN 802.11G
DVD and CD re-writer.
15" XGA TFT screen.
TV Tuner to receive Freeview channels.
Integrated Bluetooth.
2.8Kg including battery.
Software includes XP home, Worksuite 2005, Nero 6 etc.
Bundled with a Lexmark X1180 printer.

Its a Medion brand and costs £799. (6 mths 0% if required).

Is this a good purchase or have I missed something and should look elsewhere?

I can't tell from your original post whether you are looking to replace your desktop or have a laptop in addition to it.

My personal opinion on laptops is smaller is better. I've got a 12" compaq and it's about the size and thickness of a copy of GQ, and only weighs a tiny bit more.

Perfect for lugging about, does everything I need. When I want to play games or do anything serious, I power up my desktop.

2.8KG and a 15" screen makes it quite big in my opinion, if it's purely for mobile computing I'd want something smaller.

Lots of tasty second hand deals on ebay, like this one - PC Pro A List best ultra portable laptop.

I got one of those for the inlaws. I use a T41 for work & the X40 does pretty much everything my T41 does (ok, maybe a little slower) for less money & much less weight.

That being the case, I would always go as small as possible because lets face it, all else aside, they look very very cool.
