found a hand full of old pound coins , can i bank them or get then changed up easily

I found we had some recently too, paid in at the post office no problem.

Check them for rarer coins first.

As a treasurer for a small charity, I regularly still get them (and some old 50ps as well!!!!) Pay them in no problems at the Post Office or Bank (Lloyds). For smaller than £1 denominations, you generally need to make it up to £1 (ie 2 x 50p) or they probably wont accept them.

Keep them for supermarket trollies. You won't spend them and get stuck without one when you need it!

Coins are more valuable imo.

My mum put a pound into her supermarket trolley, but got a euro back. She complained very loudly to the management. They told her she got out what she put in but she wasn't being fobbed off with that rubbish, she wasn't born yesterday. This was a few days after she got back from Portugal.
