I've recently accumulated the budget to acquire a Milgauss - ideal spec would be the blue face one as I like the contrasting colours of green sapphire, blue dial, orange second hand etc.

I appreciate the lack of stock at ADs, but my budget won't stretch to grey market pricing.

Questions for the assorted hivemind -

1. Is there better chance of me finding Bigfoot in Central Manchester than getting one from an AD?

2. What sort of timeframe would one expect to get it in, if it's available?

3. If it's unavailable, are there any similar products that are worth a look?

Cheers!

Yes, but not a Rolex.

I think the Milgluass is one othe classiest looking watches of them all.

Made the same decision faced with the same choice. I’ve got skinny wrists and the Omega has a flatter side profile so looked better. I’ve had mine for nearly 8 years now and still love it. The Milgauss is nice but I would have just been choosing that over the Omega ‘cos Rolex. Explorer I for me when I do eventually get a Rolex I think.

Those (z blue with green and the orange hand) look amazing in different light and they’re smart enough to wear with a suit or dress down and wear with anything.

Agreed, the milgauss is the coolest Rolex and has largely avoided all the cringey Rolex bks as all the I’ve made it types want the other models.

Hopefully it will get discontinued (after the op gets his) so it can become even more of a classic.

Around £10k grey market > https://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/rolex-milgauss---...

For a watch you can be enjoying tomorrow.

What's list price, and expected wait time?

May I refer you to point 3.
I'm aware it's not a Rolex due to it being an Omega.
I know which I'd pick.

I’d go for the Milgauss between those two myself but everyone’s different. I do like the omega.

I’m assuming though the op wants a milgauss rather than a watch resistant to magnetism.

To me a “similar product” would be something like a Rolex oyster date 41 but there’s not really anything with the same mix of colour, that’s why the milgauss especially in z blue is so unique.

Bigfoot in Manchester? If that’s where you’re based try Goldsmiths in the Trafford Centre. I enquired about an Explorer last year & had it within a few weeks. I’m not sure where an Explorer & Milgauss sit on the “Unobtainable-O-Meter” but I’d guess they’d be fairly close.

I also tried my luck with a smaller AD in Altrincham in May 2020, never heard a thing so Goldsmiths, for me came up trumps.

Thanks for the input - the omega does look lovely and is a similar sort of watch, but really the Milgauss has the colour combination I’m looking for.

I can’t justify £10k on a watch, so grey is out of the question!

Interesting article, reinforcing there’s not much of a difference between the two. I do love the green sapphire though...

Perfect. Thanks for the recommendation - I’ll give Goldsmiths in the Trafford Centre a go!

I have owned mine for a few years now and they’ve done really well to avoid the Instagram nonsense and general obsessiveness like the Submariners and Daytonas etc. There are very strong rumours that they will be discounted in 2022 as they are the only current watch (along with the AirKing) to use the older movement. Prices are already starting to rise but when they’re discontinued the prices will bump up even more and suddenly everyone will want one.

I personally think the Milgauss is a beautiful watch. Get one now even if it means going through a grey dealer IMO.

Do you [i]really[i] need the anti-magnetism properties of the Milgauss or the >15000?

under 5k new before discounts and widely available used, there are plenty of "standard" AT's with striking dials. It's a beautiful watch in any version
