Beatles-get back
Discussion
I can’t see a thread for this,so thought I’d start one.
I’ve just watched episode one and was planted to my seat for two and a half hours.
To say McCartney was driven is an understatement.
Lennon seemed quite passive in comparison.
Fascinating viewing, looking forward to episode two tomorrow.

Just finished the 2nd part, loving every minute so far. An abridged version would probably work better for non-Beatles/music/studio nerds, but for me the detail is fascinating. More please!
I see episode two is just short of three hours! That’s tonight sorted then.
To tyresmoke, yes it’s on Disney plus so I’ve subscribed for a month, money well spent although there’s nothing else on there that interests me.
Just finished episode 2.
Wonderful!
For some reason, the scene with McCartney reading the newspaper article (hatchet job!) in a strange voice, with the others providing musical accompaniment had me in hysterics.
I've seen the original 'Let It Be' film, and Lennon comes across so much better in this version.

Yes. The first film !970/71 was very much a movie of 'how the Beatles broke up'. IIRC lots of moody stuff and bickering. This one sounds much more positive.Wonderful!

There were 160 hours of film shot by Michael Lindsay-Hogg.
,
All episodes watched and I was drained by the end of the third one.
Absolutely stunning.Incredible also to watch the vox pops in the street and to think they’ve either passed on or are now in their seventies or older.I was born the month after filming which is quite sobering!
I’ll watch them all again before my month’s subscription runs out.

Just about getting through Part 1.
Interesting to see McCartney saying he'd been the boss for two years and he was clearly the driving forcec at this point.
Lennon's disinterest/passiveness was noticeable although in fairness, McCartney needed to be the man taking control or it wasn't going to happen.
Took a while before some decent songs emerged, more individually penned, like Harrison's I Me Mine with his hallmark sound. Nice to see the hard work that went into songs we love and those we were lucky to dodge
Yoko was like a dog round Lennon but I have to say that I'd like to see a film about Paul and Linda which would clearly be a compelling love story and she was quite fit, to be fair.

Ep. 1 was brilliant, but long. The sit down chat where McCartney was basically saying that The Beatles died when Epstein died was enlightening. They needed the discipline of a father figure who would tell them to turn up at 9am, and they would be there.
Ep.2 was hard work. The best bit, for me, was when the Loader/Clapper was being taught piano by McCartney. 10 minutes of a young man's life that he will remember for the rest of his life. I loved watching them sort out Get Back from the initial strumming to a complete song.
It's like watching the original Big Brother. Proper "fly-on-the-wall" stuff, complete with microphones in flower pots

Another interesting one...
John turns up and starts playing a new song that he's been working on "Road to Marrakesh"
See if you recognise it.

I like the way they mock the Maharishi Yogi but the looks between McCartney and Lennon are like a mutual awe.
