I'm surprised nobody has posted about this.

Given how jampacked the Tube always seems when I go down to London I would have assumed that this would be causing huge amounts of stress and grief. Is it all fairly quiet?

Tragedy as Tube strike clashes with Steps concert
Pop group Steps are due to play at The 02 Arena in North Greenwich later tonight.

The Tube strike is due to run all day and the venue is served by the Jubilee Line - one of the lines affected by the industrial action.

Steps fans have been quick to spot the clash and some fear they may have to wait five, six, seven or eight minutes for a train ...

Fortunately many now have the option of WFH whenever the unions get Bolshy. All their employers will need to do is relax the mandatory office attendance rules many have brought in.

A Friday? In London? How quaint.

As it happens, I’m in the office today, but as I run into work, I am unaffected. I have noticed no difference on the streets.

Tube drivers need to understand that they are a hell of a lot less important than they used to be. Nearly everyone who works in an office will say “whatever” and work from home.

Add to this the growing use of hire bikes/scooters/Zip[car flex it does give more options.

Annoyingly I need to get to St James later and the prospect of being outside is not appealing!

Hopefully this ^^^.

So often in recent years they have held commuters ransom with their spurious reasons for striking. The new normal hopefully sticks 2 metaphorical fingers up at their strike and the impact they hope to achieve.

Yes, this surprised me - but SWR were happy to take my money for my travelcard this morning, before telling me there was a tube strike.

What's it got to do with them?

You can get to any area of London quickly from Waterloo tbf.

Slightly snidey on my behalf, but selling a travelcard then informing me 30 seconds later that no tubes are running isn't exactly Tier 1 customer service. I walked from London Bridge, so no crisis - but 20 mins late into the office and freezing cold smile Happy Friday.

Aren't most lines at least semi-automated anyway, as in the driver doesn't actually drive, more monitors and opens doors?

Presumably the unions block full automation, the trains won't pay their fees biggrin

My daughter goes to school on the Jubilee line and had the option to switch to Met for part of the journey.

As a precaution, one of the parents drove in today but they can make their own way back - the Met's running normally, the Jubilee's running a reduced service but still going.
