Have a recipe for rum punch for Xmas day, ginger beer, allspice, lime and an equal mix of white and spiced rum. Only thing is it gives me no idea which white rum to use. I had planned on using Wray's over-proof but have a feeling the measures involved will put me in a coma. Any suggestions please?

I’ve always found Wrays a bit sickly, besides being unnecessarily strong.

Bacardi is a go to but a bit bland. Havana Club - which is very slightly off white - has more flavour but is quite dry. My current preferred white is Angostura Reserva.

I thought about Havana but not sure it's strong enough (flavour wise) to cut through the ginger. Thanks for the Angostura Reserva, will have a try
