I was hoping someone could help me. My father has been a petrol head all his life owning various motorcycles racing some. he has owned a lightming fast midtec kit car and raced in many other forms.
He has always had a love for lamborghinis the countach especially. Unfortunatly he has resently be diagnosed with a terminal form of brain cancer and cannot drive on the road. He is however perfectly alert and able to drive which is frustrating for him. For his birthday we were hoping to find him a special track driving experience if possible in a lambo. Anyone got any ideas??

Unfortunately to drive on track days you need to bring your road driving licence and show it to the organisers, most of the driving days i've looked at require the same i'm afraid.

If he still has his licence (as in the piece of paper) and its just invalid then you will get away with going along and not saying anything, but i'm sure this will have implications for the organisers insurance.

I'm sure thats not really what you wanted to hear, sorry... i don't know how crafty you want to be... he could always pretend he was someone else for the day?

Hope this helps.

It's almost certainly unwise for him to drive, insured or not. Brain tumours cause epileptiform seizures, especially towards the end, despite anti-seizure medication (Dilantin), and if he had one of those while driving, an enormous accident would ensue, and you could find yourself on the receiving end of a lawsuit.

Buy him a passenger ride in a Lambo, instead.

You can buy him a Lamborghini Gallardo driving experience which takes place at Bruntingthorpe with Drivers Dream Days. I’ve just spoken with them and as long as you inform them of his condition when booking so their prepared he can drive without showing a driving license.

Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground isn’t a race circuit and has different rules, so a driving license isn’t necessary. The checking of licenses was only enforced by the Brands Hatch Leisure Group (now MSV) a few years back for insurance reasons. Before the problems with insurance and people suing at any given opportunity the licences were checked for the simple reason that that’s how they knew you could actually drive a car!!
