Cats - I Seem to Have Been Adopted
Discussion
First, apologies for the 'txt-spk' in the title - it's the damn bug with Firefox again. :(
Anyway, I appear to have been adopted by my neighbour's cat. She now spends most of her time with me.
This is my first time 'owning' a cat and I have the following 'newbie' questions:
1. Is it normal to end up having to sit in the chair uncomfortable because the cat won't move?
2. Is it normal to find yourself miaowing to the cat to see if you can illicit a response?
3. How can they sleep sooooo much?
4. How are they able to walk across my laptop keyboard and totally recongfigure my email client? This is particularly perplexing since I use Thunderbird, which you'd hardly expect a cat to be familiar with. Outlook, maybe...
Answers much appreciated. :D

1. Yes.
2. Definitely.
3. They all have natural talent is this area of expertise.
4. Cats have many secrets humans are yet to discover; being IT literate could obviously be one of them...
Glad to see you've put 'owing' in inverted comma's, because of course noone ever actually owns a cat, the cat merely chooses to live with them. The alternate theory of course is that dogs have owners; cats have staff. Enjoy!

Pigeons can do this as well, with text-mode email clients...
They come and sit next to you and slowy push you further and further to the side, until you decide you'd be better off sat elsewhere. Cat then wins. Never let them sleep on the bed while you're asleep, as they'll do the same and you'll wake just as you're about to hit the floor. Love 'em

That woman has an enormous and well stuffed pussycat!
Sorry, it's been a while since I spunked innuendo upon this hallowed soil..
That's Jennifer Love Hewitt if I'm not very much mistaken.
Regarding your innuendo, it may have been a while but at least it wasn't premature. Fnarr, etc.
Congratulations, you are now on the well oiled path to being “owned”. A few pointers.
A cat does not feel it owns you until it has achieved at least the following:-
1.You have chosen to sleep on the last 6 inches of mattress rather than “upset” the cat which is very comfortably stretched out on the remain 4 foot.
2.You spend 2 hours calling cat, walking up and down the streets in icy rain while it kips under your car on the driveway, until you give in go back to house and find it crying indignantly because you were not there to let it in and now it’s getting wet.
3.You give it a big cuddle because of #2.
4.You feed it fresh chicken or fish because it won’t eat Felix because of #2.
5.You pick up its sh!t.
6. You pick up its puke.
7.You watch 2 hours of crap on telly because the cat is sitting on the remote and you don’t want to disturb it.
8.The cat injures itself doing something “really stupid” and you rush it to the vets – the vet charges you £500 to get cat right. Whilst taking cat home, cat breaks out of box and runs around car causing you to hit hedge, you open door to see damage, cat escapes. You get towed home, no sign of cat for 3 weeks, cat turns up starving, bedraggled, and has obviously done something “really stupid”, you go to vets…
9.Cat dies in its sleep with you on your bed and “loosens”. You cry while burying cat.
10.You get another cat (you are now owned)
Good luck!
Cheers
Paul

OK, so 9/10 of those to go though. What a future I have to look forward too!

Speaking as the owner of a Wild Cat....
Once she gets comfy on my lap ....
:yes; But my wild cat decides whether she wishes to hear me or not.
usually not - but she expects me to jump to attention!
....must be nocturnal adventures
My wild cat can break into my computer with perfect ease. Rather weird tendency of sending all my mates kissy e-mail as well...
A wild cat defintely owns me. oh
