A good innings from an inspirational man. An example to us all in how to face adversity phlegmaticlally and without self pity

79 is a good innings for any of us let alone for a man with decades of ill health

He triumphed over his adversity and gave me many great memories

7 world championships and 9 constructors iirc

Thank you for what you did and the life you led

May you Rest in Peace Sir Frank

As somebody with a spinal injury, nowhere nr the severity of Sir Franks I should add, I always looked up to him after my accident, he was a huge inspiration for what I could achieve.

Massive loss to the world of motorsport.

RIP Sir.

I always thought it was odd he let hill go after the title. A great team manager

That decision had been made in 1995 when Damon made a lot of mistakes.

I recall reading recently, the pay demands from Hill (or manager) killed his chances of continuing with Williams.

Frank was a huge figure in F1, last of the shed to top of the pile team owners.

Will be sadly missed.

I seem to recall reading (Damons Autobiography?) that Williams hiring Frentzen was a sweetener, part of the bid to entice BMW. Although Hill's late '95 form & use of a manager in '97 contract negotiations didn't help.
Regardless, Frank was unique, thanks for all of the memories. Rest In Peace.

Reading neweys book, and listening to Patrick heads podcast, the question I have is, were these individuals ever at home? They can’t have had much of a home life? Whatever floats your boat. Astonishing commitment to the goals in hand.

Very true - his dedication, ambition and also humanity shone out despite terrible adversity that would have led meany to throw in the towel long before.

A big loss - which as an 'internet poster' really means nothing - but I am certain the response from the paddock at the next grand prix will show that it isnt just me thinking on these lines.

I prefer the clip from a few years earlier where he strapped himself into the passenger seat of the F1 Espace. It was the first time he had been able to experience one of his engines.
