Anybody ever had their alloys refurbished at Porsche or know anywhere else to get a good job done around the Watford area?

Evo magazine mentioned OPC Reading at £50 a corner.

Why bother taking your wheels to the OPC? They just send them to a specialist and charge you crazy money when you collect them.

The specialist I used was doing wheels for BMW and Adi OPCs - go figure? They charged 50 quid a wheel for refurbishing the ourward halves of the wheel (the area visible from outside.

Do you think it would be worth asking them who they use?

Or anybody any idea who OPC Hatfield or West London use?

Just look in the yellow pages or ask someone like JZ Maztech who are in that area. I'm sure they'll recommend a good place. You can then go and visit them to see what kind of work they are doing.

It's the same thing with getting small dents repaired, the OPC will call in a specialist company which you can use directly at half the price (or maybe even less and they'll come to you in the same way that they'll visit the OPC to do the work).

The OPCs have fancy showrooms and a fat layer of very expensive management to pay for and that money comes from huge margins on these kinds of services.

Lipsons in Gillingham got one of my old sport designs looking like new again. They were recommended by HR Owen Staple's Corner. I know Kent isn't that near Watford, but they mentioned that for a full set, they might collect.

Its Lepsons-not Lipsons. They did a great job of my 996's wheels. They only collect from trade premises.

I had mine done at Wicked Wheels near Guildford, Slyfield Ind estate. They do the wheels for Audi & BMW OPC just across the road from them.

All 4 of mine were damaged when I had my tyres replaced. Fitting company paid for the refurb, so kind of ok.

OPC got someone in to refurb my wheels before I picked up the car. Autoglym wheel cleaner gets the top layer of air-dryed paint off nicely!!! Bodyshops recommend that the wheels are stripped and baked dry as factory-finished items - but you're looking at more than £50 per corner. Concours owner recommended Jasmine - and suggested getting the insides of the rims lacquered too to keep them looking nice.

Another vote for Lepsons in Gillingham...for ONCE I live near someone/something of use to me!!

They did my mums MX5 TSW wheels the other week, they were absolutely k-nackered...even the collection driver gawked in amazement apparently...and they look spot-bloody-on, well impressed.

I spoke to the them other day about getting various sets done...

Porsche Sport Classic II 2-piece split rims, for outers and inners, £95+VAT/wheel (which I thought was a bargain)

OZ Super Tourismo (solid single piece) alloys, 17", Gold, £55+VAT/wheel...plus I think about £5 to replace the OE "OZ RACING" stickers in the centre, under a coat of clear powdercoat laquer.

They don't do 3-piece split rims, nor any 2-piece split's that have an open bolt hole, ie a nut & bolt fixing. They can only do "blind" bolt hole wheels (which the Sport Classic's are)...don't know why...

They're also on a 1-week summer shutdown in a week or so's time.

Not true...they collected my Mum's wheels from their house (we had to remove them from the car obviously!)

Hope this helps, give 'em a call. Very helpful bunch....dont pay OPC money...
