From Oliver Winterbottom (TVR Wedge designer):

Dear Sean,

I wish to send you and all the participants a short message from Shanghai.

I am very sorry I cannot be with you on your Anniversary Day at Ettington. Conceiving the Tasmin was a long time ago but I remember the whole project (fairly) clearly and the sight of a good Tasmin is always heartwarming. I am especially encouraged by the fact that you guys and girls are still enjoying the car. When you have the chance to create something as emotive as a sports car, its a bit like conceiving a child. (Well in some ways but not all of course, but I guess most of you would know that).

TVR in the late 1970's were happily making the M Series. Unfortunately a significant number of essential components such as the engine, final drive
and front uprights were all obsolete and becoming unobtainable. Martin Lilley needed a new product and the Tasmin was it. We tried to make a slightly more spacious, refined and reliable car and gave it
a complete change of appearance. To some (possibly many) this appearance was a shock - but remember we were doing this in the late 70's.

Today, the Tasmin, to me, stands out as being a bit shockingly different. Well it's a TVR and they have always conveyed a message!

I hope you all have a great day, the weather is kind - and - to the winner of the "Best Tasmin" - Thanks.
Very best wishes,
Oliver Winterbottom

How about sending him a photo / TVR flag / memento of some kind, signed by all the current owners at BBWF?

Good idea - we can include a DVD/copy of sprint of the event for him as well which I'm sure he'd love. Think he's quite disappointed he is unable to make it.

Any idea what's stopping him coming Seamus?.

Maybe we could 'spring' him from some depressingly boring engagement?
