Spotify 2021 Wrapped (or similar)
Discussion
Spotify uploaded my 2021 Wrapped into my app yesterday and it made for some interesting (surprising) reading! Having been working from home for the whole year, I usually just have a Daily Mix or 5 playing in the background for most of the day.
According to this I:
According to this I:
- listened for 119,287 minutes (more than 99% of the UK)
- listened to 140 different genres (but in the top 0.5% of listeners for Metallica)
- listened to 2,470 different artists
32,593 minutes listening
36 genres (pop punk #1)
595 artists
Listened to bloody valentine by MGK 150 times which is quite something.
I was learning Swedish for a bit, though I gave in, but discovered the Swedish pop singer Veronica Maggio. I was in her top 0.1% of listeners this year with a whopping 4,161 minutes…
I’m sure this somehow says a lot about me!

You have probably generated £0.0067 for all the artists to share...According to this I:

59,444 mins listening, way down on normal as I flipped to radio for a lot of the year just for something different.
167 different genres
2,619 different artists and in top 0.5% of listeners of Kevin Kiner - he did a lot of The Clone Wars series soundtrack, which I must have had on in the background a lot whilst working without realising.
5th top song is 'King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown' by King Tubby.
It flagged I played a lot of white noise overnight and 3am music, goes to show someone noticed my new found insomnia!
I didn't know what it was, so I ignored it, I played it just now, I think it's a very neat idea.
I'm in Dua Lipa's top 3% of listeners.
And top 10% of Clean Bandit.
I played Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence 35 times.
I think next year Sam Smith will be my top played artist, I've only just "discovered" him.

129 genres
1687 artists
Top 0.5% of foals listeners
Top artists were Foals, Black Keys, Greta Van Fleet, Gerry Cinnamon and Hollis Brown. 3 of those I’ll be seeing live next year and if the other two come to Europe I’ll see those too

no major surprises for me tbh..... maybe not having "failure" in my top 5 but then i couldn't see any of the others getting bumped either!

good to see fellow descendents fans!... found them on the back of buying damaged by black flag when i was 14... so, 1988!!...been a fan ever since though i do hold the unpopular opinion that when the band initially lost milo and became ALL they were much better.. the more serious sound they had produced some of the greatest albums ever recorded for me.. the dave smalley era was good but the scott reynolds and chad price era was golden...... that said , when milo came back in 1996 for "everything sucks"...well, that was just a perfect album for me too.tracks like coolidge, christmas vacation, clean sheets were pure, perfect songs but i do still love the entire milo goes to college album.... mad to think that was, what? '82? and they have been around since '78..... really glad that 9th and walnut got released!....never would have guessed there would be a "lost" descendents album!
nice touch with 7 seconds and minutemen too by the way

Cheers - sorry, only just seen this. It was "9th & Walnut" that pushed them into #1 - have had that record on repeat constantly. tracks like coolidge, christmas vacation, clean sheets were pure, perfect songs but i do still love the entire milo goes to college album.... mad to think that was, what? First time I saw them was touring "Everything Sucks" - somewhere in Leeds (an Irish working club from memory), I was at University at the time & my mates Uno broke down on the way there after hitting a large puddle in the pissing rain between York & Leeds. I'll have to check, but I might've only seen them once since as they haven't toured the UK much.
Fantastic band though. Have you heard Milo's interviews with H2O's Toby Morse on his "One Life One Change" podcast (he also has interviews with Kevin Seconds, Tim Armstrong an loads more)?
7 Seconds, oddly I hadn't listened to much, despite having bought a couple of their records in the past. Don't think I've ever seen them live though.
Minutemen - probably the only band you'll ever need IMO.
My top 5 artists;
1. New Order
2. Pink Floyd
3. Alan Parsons Project
4. Aphex Twin
5. Daniel Avery
4,948 minutes
Tho I'm aware this is just my personal account sat on my phone. If the home smart speaker's account was included it would be a totally different result after another year of mostly working from home while it plays in the background.
