Discussion
A pub in Linlithgow called The Black b
h after a local legend involving a greyhound is to be renamed by Greene King The locals are not happy

Personally I would go with history and tradition. A b
h is a female dog as per the story.

I was in Broughton In Furness two weekends ago.
I was very amused by "The Black Cock Inn"
Of course had to drink the Black Cock Ale and was further stupidly amused when I asked my mate if he wanted nuts with his Black Cock.
Oh how we laughed.
I'd highly recommend a trip to Broughton.
Cracking place, want to retire there - did you do the Blacksmiths at Broughton Mills? In the top 10 heritage pubs in the UKI was very amused by "The Black Cock Inn"

Reported locally that they're changing the name because they can't post or promote the pub on social media. Facebook shut them down.
Not the first pub/nightclub name to fall foul of the algorithm.
It makes me wonder if a local pub with strong local support needs to be represented on something like facebook. Not the first pub/nightclub name to fall foul of the algorithm.
I suppose ultimately, it's a matter for the locals, they can support the move or take their custom elsewhere, let the market decide.
The other day when walking my dogs rhey ran towards a dog being walked on a lead. The owner pulled it close to her and said "she is in season". I replied its OK they are both b

On the other hand many people have learned about Greene King’s links to the slave trade and current management’s inability to listen and respond sensitively to customer sentiment.
This one will run and run, a bit like the original “Black b
h”.

Pubs have always changed their names. I was in a pub called The Town of Ramsgate today in Wapping that's had about 5 names over the years. Are we no longer allowed to change the names of things?
It's about a change being imposed by a national chain against the wishes of localsAnd by definition if a pub has had 5 name changes after the first change it isn't a name it has had for hundreds of years

If the issue is perceived 'racism', then wouldn't the new name be swimmy b
h, or faithful b
h, and not black hound?Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
