what budget 10" tablet ?
Discussion
I have a cheapo acer tablet. It's crap because it is so slow, so I'm binning it. I've tried factory resets, disabling bits etc, but can't find a replacement OS for it.
The new one has to load browser or mail or spotify within 10 seconds. I don't want a telephone, but it must have wifi and bluetooth.
I'd prefer android. I will not buy apple (it would be too expensive anyway)
I've seen reviews of various strange named stuff from Amazon, which look as if they do the job fine. But is a Pritom, Teclast or Dragon any good?
Interestingly a review of the Dragon mentioned the lack of bloatware - I'm sure this what renders the Acer useless.
Budget £150.

Been down this road myself. Lots of cheap ones on Amazon however try to get the largest amount of internal memory. I got one with 16Gb and Im having lots of issues of limited space. As much as you have externa SD cards you dont have the ability to more apps over to this card. Try to aim for at least 32gb of internal storage.

I know you've said not Apple but they really do work out the best value long term.
Bloatware also not an issue!
I've just checked and the ipad equivalent without telephony would be >£500. For what I want to do, it's poor VFM, just Reassuringly Expensive.Bloatware also not an issue!
I've looked the Lenovo Gen2 and the Galaxy. I think it might be worth a small budget stretch to get a known brand. Thanks for the tips.
Have you looked at Man Maths? I find that very useful when you need new kit.
Eg, I was in the same position as you and discovered that Samsung will do you their Tab S7 for £17 a month over three years. Well over your budget, but would you miss £17 a month? Or can you justify £17 a month on something you use all the time?
In the end I got it over the line by not upgrading my phone for another 12 months and dropping that cost by about £15 a month. Which then gets the net cost to half your budget.
Seems a bit screwy but it was basically trading a really good phone for a less good phone and a second device with a bigger screen. The Samsung ecosystem is very good, to the extent that the tablet rings when my phone rings, so if I'm home my phone left on my desk and I only use the tablet.
I had a backup option that was basically cashing in my Credit Card rewards for Currys Vouchers and getting the tablet from them, but my wife was convinced that £17 a month was fine for something I use all the time, so I kept those vouchers back in reserve.

Lenovo M10 HD 2nd Gen.
Think they are £140 from Argos, I got one for the kids and it's very good value with minimal bloatware and it's quite fast.
Everytime someone asks the question this answer comes back and I then feel obliged to say YES YES YES This is definitely the answer. I used to have a Samsung S Tab 7.6 which was great except the screen went, but the Lenovo is so much better. Think there was a special at Argos and I got it for £120. I bought the Missus a nearly-new one of these off Facebook for £80 and it is great for what she wants from it – online shopping, a few simple games (scrabble, crosswords etc). Looks good, starts up quickly and lasts a long time on a charge.Think they are £140 from Argos, I got one for the kids and it's very good value with minimal bloatware and it's quite fast.
Our requirements weren't exactly taxing, so spending more money just seemed a waste to get features we'd never use.

Don't you only require to load Mail and Spotify? I'm sure the standard iPad at £319 (likely found cheaper elsewhere) will do that with ease. And far outlast the other brand tablets mentioned.I've looked the Lenovo Gen2 and the Galaxy. I think it might be worth a small budget stretch to get a known brand. Thanks for the tips.

For the money it is the best option in my mind.
The 64gb version is £150 and has 4gb ram compared to the 32gb version which comes with 2gb ram.
Has android 11 out of the box as well and storage is upgradable.
I'm not just saying it as I've got one, it really is great kit for the price.

I went for the Lenovo as above.
AS soon as I ordered it, it went unobtainable...
But, I can see today that it has been dispatched.
Which is good, as the bloody Acer has now decided to charge so slowly that it has to be shut down, it won't charge and run at the same time! Bl**dy useless POS.. Can't wait to convert it into a something useful by stripping the cameras out of it.

Absolutely. People gripe about the high price point, but they do make good products that last in my opinion. I'm more than happy to pay more for something that will last, especially when it comes to techBloatware also not an issue!

Well whoop de doo. You're happy to buy something that is 'reassuringly expensive'.I've only had the Lenovo M10 HD 2nd gen a day, but it appears to do all I needed and more. Proper performance from a 10" tablet. I have been in the habit of keeping a portable PC in the living room, but I can imangine that this might make that redundant. So far - it's very good. Thanks for the recommendations. (and it as within budget!)

They aren't 'reassuringly expensive' at all and I'm not sure why you insist on using such a term?!
In fairness everyone that's mentioned about the iPad are correct - I have 2x Mini 2's in service that are both over 8yrs old and were only £320ish (bought in the US) - now most android tablets will struggle beyond 2-3yrs (many beyond 18mths, especially at the budget end of the market) ... factor in £150/each ... you're at a loss over the same time window
To each their own but no need to be sniffy at the very robust logic.

Exactly the opposite of "good investment", "will outlast others" etc.
Yes, a good product, but I got bent over with the update (and I wasn't alone).
Very godo android tabs can be had for £120 to £180. YOu can break them, and just replace at that price point.
