I am thinking of buying a 996 Targa, but have some concerns about the glass top and leaks etc.
Any pointers or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Prefer the look of a coupe but think targa best of both worlds re cab v coupe.

I had a targa for 2.5 yrs. 22kmiles Lovely. No problems apart from a rattle after 1000miles which they sorted out.

I enjoyed the glass roof more then actually having it open. But to open it on a warm summers night was the best!

I didnt like direct sun on my head, so was a bit of a vampire for opening the top. hence why I liked the glass so much.

I love the Targa versions.

I had a 993 Targa for a while - which has a glass roof like the 996 Targa - and tought it was excellent.

There was no leaks at all, and with all the light coming through the roof, it makes the car seem bigger.

Go on - go for it!

I run a 993 Targa and have had no leaking problems with the glass roof. The only downside is that, when the roof is back, it overlaps the rear window and, because it is a darker glass, it reduces the clarity of the view to the rear. However, it has never caused me any problems, perhaps because I tend to check the door mirrors anyway.

Other than that, I'm very happy with my choice - the car is certainly lighter inside and the ability to have the top open and enjoy the fresh air adds to the enjoyment of a drive.

I hope you will enjoy the car, too - it's a nice choice.
