Does anyone know which series/episode of the old series Top Gear (1977-2001) that has Tiff Needell talking about the Reliant Scimitar and where he talks to Tom Karen and Ray Wiggins?. I've tried searching online to find which episode this was from (including the BBC Genome site) but haven't been able to find out what series it was from. There's a home video of the filming of the episode filmed at Cannock Chase I've seen on youtube, but according to the uploader of the video it says it's from 2002, which it can't be as the old Top Gear format ended in late 2001 and Tiff Needell wasn't a presenter of the Clarkson, Hammond and May series only continuing as presenter on Fifth Gear. There's also a wiki page which includes a full list of every episode (obtained from the BBC apparently), but again there's no mention of this episode in the list. Guessing I would say it was no earlier than 2000.

If it is this yellow scimitar then looks like it was 1999.

Thanks for that. Never thought about looking on IMCDB, but not sure if the year maybe right as alot of screenshots and vehicles added on that site aren't all that accurate. I wonder why youtube removed the video, can't be down to copyright surely, seems to be an hard to find episode of old Top Gear. I have the Scimitar segment from that episode and would upload it but likely youtube will remove it under some spurious copyright claim, yet other episodes they don't too bothered about. The recording I have there's no indication of a date hence by I'm wondering when it was shown.

Could be the backing track, if the music publisher has logged the profile of the track YT's automatic scanning could be flagging it.

Could be down to that reason.

I've gone through every episode from 1999 on the BBC Genome site and there's no mention in the episodes description of Tiff Needell talking about the Scimitar, although there are one or two eps listed where there's no description of what the episode is about.

Had a look at the tape I have with the Scimitar, and apparently it is from 2000 not 1999, so the year on IMCDB is wrong. There's a review of an Audi A4 being tested by Jason Barlow (anyone remember him?), and Jason's first appearance as a presenter on Top Gear is from the 7th Sept 2000. I think the episode is from the 2nd November 2000. Also in the episode I have, Vicki Butler-Henderson test drives and reviews the new Citroen Picasso (oddly when I entered the reg number into the DVLA nothing comes up; where these reg numbers real? as even if it were scrapped or the number assigned to a different car the number would still show up).

Strangely though, nothing is mentioned of the Scimitar in this list of every episode:

There's nothing in the Scimitar segment which has any copyrighted music, yet youtube seem to have a problem with anyone uploading this particular (and know doubt others) episode, or rather the part in the ep talking about the Scimitar. I think the old Top Gear was far better than the crap it became once Clarkson, Hammond and May took over (officially classed as a new show), though most people probably don't remember that Jason Dawe was one original members before May was recruited. Dumbing down crap for the idiotic, moronic millennial generation who think that watching three twits turning a car into a boat is clever lol.
