wedding attire

Off to an evening wedding reception this weekend, not sure whether to get suited and booted, or just go dressed in smart casual since we wont be attending the wedding itself earlier in the day. I dont think the bride and groomy are going to be changing into evening wear... Advice, oh PC PH wardrobe consultants? :)
Similar problem, I have 2 to go to in the next 3 weeks, think this weekend will have to be suited and booted, but luckily (not sure if that is the correct word) for the next one I'm in a morning suit (bestman honours) so thats a no-brainer.

* organise the ushers on the day
* look after the groom on the big day - take him for a walk when his bride is doesn't turn up, feed him ciggies etc etc
* dance with the bride's mother
* sleep with the bridesmaids
Note - do not mix up the last 2.

I just turned up, got married, smiled, did my speech, relaxed and loved every minute of it. Any annoyances, decisions etc he took for me.

The best thing mine did for me on the day was just be there for assistance. Ahh thats not quite so easy, that was hopefully going to be the plan, so much so that I'm turning up a day early to help out with some of the arrangements so he doesn't stress as much..... In fact I hadn't been in touch for 2 weeks I had an anxious phone call last night just make sure I was alive.
He was not impressed when I said I was just doing it to see how long it would be before he rung me, he would probably be even less impressed if I told him I won the bet between my mates as to the length of time he would start to get worried..
Have plenty of cash on you.
Bailed out my best mate 3 times on his big day - various tips, registry office fees!(payable on the day), rounds of drinks for close family later in the day when his limited resources had expired.
Bugger still hasn't reimbursed me, thanks for the reminder.
Smart Casual by the way, so long as it has a collar and you look like you made an effort the B&G shouldn't be too offended. Dress to impress, a wedding is good place for meeting ladies in 'high spirits'.

I bet not many folks know that if they go for the full 'Moss Bros penguin suit morning wear' monty, that the hats and gloves are not for wearing. They are accessories for carrying only. If you see a truly posh upper crust wedding only the token plebs and celebs who have been invited can be seen wearing them. Stephen Fry tells how he commited this fo-pah at the Royal wedding, but a freindly footman put him straight just in the nick of time :snigger:
There was a time when the 'hirers' would carry one set size only hats and gloves in stock and inform the great unwashed when they volunteered sizes at measure up that you dont actually wear them. But this is poor form, the truly posh have the correct sizes, and dont wear them.
