Motorhome with a drop down bed
Discussion
Rather than clog up another thread with this question I thought I'd start a new one.
Could any of you folks advise if you have a drop down bed arrangement in your MH. If so, what height does the bed drop down to?
We have it in mind that when we change our current MH we may go for something a tad shorter than the current one (8.7m long) so will look at drop down bed arrangements which would hopefully give us a rear lounge too. The issue is that Mrs O has MS and cannot use steps to get up into a bed that is higher than the normal height a bed would be off the floor. I'm pretty sure I have seen MH's where the bed lowers down to normal seat height but I can't remember which manufacturer did that.
I know we have a couple of dealers come on here as well: any ideas?

If you're looking new and the dropdown as the main bed they mainly all drop all the way down these days thankfully, tends to be where the dropdown bed is the guest bed that it stops halfway only or used vans where most brands fitted cupboards underneath the dropdown stopping them dropping low enough.
All the new Trigano group stuff drops all the way so Rollerteam, Benimar,Chausson and Adria, presumably Mclouis too tho I don't know that.
Bursnter do too as did Rapido when they did dropdown only.
I presume the UK copycats from Bailey , Autotrail and Swift follow suit now too

Thanks for that Jody, useful info.
We'll still need the usual stuff like a huge payload; large garage doors and a microwave as well but very useful to know. We tend to buy 12-18 months old and then keep for 3-5 years, so hopefully some of these newer ones you mention will be on the market when we need to change.

We have a chausson 510 flash six metre.
The electric bed has two heights.
The first is around 4.5 feet and needs a ladder. Benefits are that you don't need to arrange things below it, you could feasibly have a bunk setup by making up bed below it and if you need the loo overnight the person at the driver cab side can access under the bed.
There is an electric table under the bed. If you lower the table, you can take the bed to its lowest level which is about 2 feet. No ladder required but you do have to climb over the other person to get to loo.
If we upgrade we would consider lengthwise twin electric beds like the Chausson 630. Benefit is you dont need to go or get up from bed at the same time.
The biggest benefit of the electric bed is the large living space in only a 6 metre van.

Garage and a drop down bed points towards the Chausson 630 or 640 or the smaller 610 which was replaced by the 650.
All good news and used ones have gone up in value recently as the new ones have shot up to £68k but are fully sold out already.
Adria do the Matrix 600dt of the same layout which is rear garage and full width bathroom eith a big twin sofa seatbelted front lounge and big, low dropdown bed.
Benimar do it in their Ford Tessoro and Fiat Mileo range too.
Very good sellers all so start looking early as they get snapped up in minutes so an be hard to find sat on forecourts.
You won't get a factory fitted microwave in any European built van they just aren't interested in them and high level cupboards are few in drop down bed vans.
