Hi,

I'm trying to open a business account with Starling, and I understand they had a normal time frame of up to five working days to open (or not!) new business accounts. No account has been opened yet.

I chose Starling based on positive reviews I have read, but this challenge at the first hurdle of getting my limited company off the ground has put serious doubt into my choice going forward.

Thanks,

StevieBee

Had my account with them up and running within a few hours. Card arrived in three days.

Unless they've changed their procedure there's either something wrong with something you've uploaded or the application has gone into some loop.

You don't want to be dependent on one bank. So apply for another one alongside, it may be quicker.

nothing but positive comments from me about Starling. been banking with them for 1.5 Years and they have been a breath of fresh air compared to the dinosaur banks

Have you refreshed the app?

I know it sounds daft, but we had a similar issue - Mrs FTR is a shareholder and the app was telling her she was all done, but the app was telling me there was an issue.

I left it for about a week and then called and the customer support person said to get her to refresh the app and see what happened.

Bingo, Mrs FTR needed some more/different ID.

Wise words from Hyphen, Starling (and other digital only offerings) have a reputation for freezing and closing accounts, sometimes merely because a payment doesn't follow a pattern, and taking ages to resolve the issue.

I guess this does happen with high-street banks too, but they don't seem to have quite the same reputation (for tardiness) at the moment, and at least you can go to a branch and shout at somebody!!

Thanks for the help guys. Transpired they weren’t happy with my business plan timeline and had got incorrect details on my professional membership! A couple of email exchanges and both resolved with account opened.

I will look at getting another account as well as advised.

Thanks,
