Hi guys, I've heard some conflicting information about the max length of a Type 2 cable.

Are there multiple factors at play?
We got a local company here that does up to 15m cables:

https://www.laadkabelwinkel.nl/ratio-basic-laadkab...

Would you guys say that these could be used without any issues or are there any caveats for use of >10m cables?

I’ve done similar research as my leaf has the charger on the wrong end meaning my neighbours will think I’m no longer a driving god if I park on my drive nose in.

The main takeaway for me was there’s no issues but at 10m (the longest I could find) the weight of the cable becomes an issue and may pull the wall box away from the wall. At 15m I imagine that’s a large weight.

Is your charger on the second floor or something? Unless I'm missing something most of the 10 meter cable will be on the floor.

Good point!
10m would be enough but I thought "why not have the bit extra".

It seems the 15m is 5kg while the 10m they offer is 4kg. That is quite some heft indeed smile.

I am going to just make a technical point...

As far as I can see there is no limit on the length of the connecting cable subject to it having enough copper in it.
Longer cables will have more voltage drop (for a given cross sectional area), at some point the earth impedance might be a problem too.
With a properly designed cable, at a reasonable length, I can't see an issue.

When the car isn't connected, a lot of the chargers are designed that you coil the lead around the charger when not in use.

Though - IMO - if installed properly onto a suitable wall with the correct fixings they should be ok as long as the charger case can hold it.
